What to do if IEC is suspended?

What to do if IEC is suspended

If your Importer Exporter Code (IEC) is suspended, it means your ability to engage in import-export activities is temporarily restricted until you resolve the issues leading to the suspension. The first step is to identify the reason for suspension. Common causes include failure to update IEC annually, discrepancies in documents, non-compliance with DGFT (Directorate General of Foreign Trade) guidelines, or regulatory violations.

To reactivate your IEC, you need to log in to the DGFT portal using your credentials. Check for any pending updates or discrepancies. If your IEC was suspended due to non-updation, submit the required modification or confirmation by filing an amendment request. You may also need to upload supporting documents such as PAN, Aadhaar, business proof, and bank details, depending on the issue.

Once the necessary corrections are made, submit the application for reactivation. The DGFT will verify your request, and if everything is in order, your IEC will be restored. In case of suspension due to regulatory violations or compliance defaults, you may be required to submit additional explanations or approach the concerned DGFT Regional Authority.

To avoid suspension in the future, always ensure annual updation of IEC between April and June each year, keep all business details up to date, and comply with DGFT notifications. Timely compliance ensures smooth operation of your import-export business without interruptions.
