To apply for an IEC (Importer Exporter Code) online for a partnership firm, you must follow the process prescribed by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) through its official portal www.dgft.gov.in. The procedure is entirely online and streamlined for ease of use.
Begin by registering on the DGFT portal using the firm’s PAN, email ID, and mobile number. After OTP verification, log in and go to Services > IEC Profile Management > Apply for IEC. Select “Partnership Firm” as your entity type and start a fresh application.
Fill in details such as the name of the firm, PAN, office address, bank details, and contact information. You will also need to provide partner details, including their PAN and Aadhaar (if applicable). Ensure all the information is accurate and matches official records.
Upload the required documents:
The application must be digitally signed using a Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) registered in the name of one of the partners. Aadhaar e-sign is not permitted for partnerships.
Pay the ₹500 application fee through the portal using UPI, debit/credit card, or net banking. Once submitted, the application is processed within 1–2 working days, and the IEC certificate is issued online. The IEC is valid for a lifetime but must be updated annually to avoid deactivation.
