Updating your Importer Exporter Code (IEC) certificate is a mandatory annual compliance under DGFT guidelines. Even if there are no changes to your IEC details, you must confirm or update them online between April 1st and June 30th every year. Here’s how you can update your IEC:
- Visit the DGFT Portal: Go to https://www.dgft.gov.in.
- Login: Use your registered credentials (username and password linked to your IEC). If you’re a first-time user, register using your IEC and linked mobile/email.
- Navigate to ‘IEC Profile Management’: Under the ‘Services’ menu, click on “IEC Profile Management.”
- Click on ‘Update IEC’: Your current IEC details will appear. Review them carefully.
- Make Changes (if needed): Update details like address, contact, bank info, director/partner info, etc. If no changes are needed, proceed to confirm.
- Submit and Verify with DSC or Aadhaar OTP: Authenticate the update using a Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) or Aadhaar-based OTP.
- Receive Confirmation: After successful submission, you’ll get an acknowledgement. The IEC will be marked as “updated.”
Important: There is no government fee for IEC updation. Failure to update by June 30 may lead to deactivation of your IEC.
Keeping your IEC certificate updated ensures smooth international trade operations and compliance with DGFT norms.
