What do I need to activate IEC

To activate your Import Export Code (IEC), you need to ensure that all your details are updated and compliant on the DGFT (Directorate General of Foreign Trade) portal. Since 2021, the DGFT requires IEC holders to update and confirm their IEC information annually (between April and June). If you fail to update, your IEC may get deactivated automatically. To reactivate or activate it, you need the following:

Active PAN: The IEC is linked to the PAN of the business or individual.

Valid Digital Signature (DSC) or Aadhaar e-Sign: Required for authentication during updates.

Bank Account Details: A current account in the name of the business (with IFSC, account number, and branch details).

Address Proof: Updated registered business address (electricity bill, rent agreement, or other valid proof).

Email ID and Mobile Number: Linked with IEC for OTP verification and DGFT communication.

Login Credentials for DGFT Portal: User ID and password created at the time of IEC registration.

Steps to Activate:

Log in to the DGFT portal → Go to IEC Profile Management → Update IEC.

Verify PAN, bank details, address, and contact details.

Submit the update using DSC or Aadhaar e-Sign.

Once confirmed, your IEC will be reactivated and marked as Active in the DGFT system.

Tip: Always update IEC annually to avoid deactivation and interruptions in trade activities.
