How to Modify Your IGCR Registration if Your Business Changes

How to modify your igcr registration if your business changes

Businesses often evolve — new addresses, manufacturing units, or job-workers are common. When such changes occur, it’s essential to update your IGCR registration under the Import of Goods at Concessional Rate of Duty (IGCR) Rules, 2022. Since the concessional duty benefit is tied to specific end-use and location, keeping your registration updated ensures smooth compliance with Customs.

1. Log In to the ICEGATE Portal

Visit the ICEGATE portal and open your IGCR dashboard. All modifications are done digitally, so no manual submission is needed.

2. Update Your Prior Intimation (Form IGCR-1)

  • Go to the Prior Intimation (IGCR-1) section.
  • Review your existing registration details.
  • Update fields such as:
    • Business or factory address
    • Job-worker details
    • Manufacturing unit or process
    • Product or input description
  • Submit the revised form online.
Your IGCR Identification Number (IIN) will remain the same unless the nature of your business changes completely.

3. Review Your Bond or Bank Guarantee

If the change affects the way imported goods are used or transferred, you may need to amend or top up your continuity bond or bank guarantee linked to IGCR.

4. Maintain Proper Documentation

Keep all supporting documents ready — updated GST details, factory registrations, and job-worker agreements — as Customs may verify them during inspection.

5. Stay Compliant

Regularly updating your IGCR registration helps you avoid compliance issues, penalties, or suspension of benefits. It’s a quick digital step that ensures uninterrupted concessional duty advantages for your business.
