How do I check if my IEC is active?

To check whether your Importer Exporter Code (IEC) is active, follow these steps through the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) portal:

1. Visit the DGFT Portal: Go to https://www.dgft.gov.in, the official website of the DGFT.
2. Go to ‘IEC Services’: Under the “Services” menu, click on IEC Profile Management.
3. Select ‘Check IE Code Status’: From the list of options, click on “Check IE Code Status”.
4. Enter Details: Input your 10-digit IEC number and the corresponding Permanent Account Number (PAN) linked with the IEC.
5. Complete CAPTCHA: Enter the verification code displayed on the screen.
6. Submit and View Status: Once submitted, the portal will display the current status of your IEC – whether it is Active, Inactive, or Deactivated.

You can also log in to your DGFT account and navigate to the My Dashboard section. Under IEC Profile, your IEC’s current status will be listed.

Since August 2021, the DGFT has made it mandatory to update or confirm IEC details annually, between April and June. Failing to do so may result in automatic deactivation. Keeping your IEC active is crucial to avoid disruptions in your import-export business. Therefore, it’s good practice to periodically verify your IEC status and ensure all profile information is up to date.
