To apply for an IEC (Importer Exporter Code) online for a company in India, follow the digital procedure via the DGFT (Directorate General of Foreign Trade) portal. The entire process is paperless and streamlined for corporate entities like private limited companies, public limited companies, and LLPs.
First, visit www.dgft.gov.in and register as a new user using the company’s PAN, official email ID, and mobile number. Once registered, log in to your account and go to Services > IEC Profile Management > Apply for IEC.
Begin a new application by selecting “Company” as the entity type. Fill in company details such as name, address, registered office information, directors’ details, and contact details. Then, provide bank account information in the company’s name.
You’ll need to upload the following documents:
Once all required documents are uploaded, digitally sign the application using the company’s DSC (Digital Signature Certificate)—Aadhaar e-sign is not valid for companies.
After signing, pay the ₹500 application fee online via UPI, debit/credit card, or net banking. Upon successful submission, the IEC is typically issued within 1–2 working days and can be downloaded from the DGFT portal. The IEC is based on the company’s PAN and is valid for a lifetime, subject to annual updates.
