How to reactivate your IEC?

How to reactivate your IEC

Reactivating an IEC (Importer Exporter Code) is a straightforward process, but it must be done carefully through the official DGFT (Directorate General of Foreign Trade) portal. IECs are often suspended if not updated within the required timelines or if there is non-compliance with DGFT’s annual update mandate. If your IEC is suspended, here’s how you can reactivate it:

  1. Log in to DGFT Portal – Visit https://www.dgft.gov.in and log in with your credentials linked to your IEC.
  2. Access IEC Profile – Go to the ‘IEC’ tab and select ‘Update IEC’. This is mandatory as DGFT requires IEC holders to update their information annually, even if no changes are made.
  3. Update Details – Review and update essential details such as business address, contact information, bank details, director/partner information, and any supporting documents. Upload valid and updated documents (like PAN, Aadhaar, Bank Certificate/Cancelled Cheque).
  4. Submit Application – After updating, submit the IEC modification form online. An e-sign or DSC (Digital Signature Certificate) may be required for authentication.
  5. Reactivation by DGFT – Once submitted, DGFT will process the request. Usually, the IEC is reactivated immediately after successful submission, provided all details are accurate.

Important Note: To avoid suspension in the future, ensure you update your IEC every year (even if no details change). This compliance is compulsory and keeps your IEC active for all import-export transactions.
