How to retrieve old IEC code?

If you have misplaced your old Importer Exporter Code (IEC) or its certificate, you can easily retrieve it through the DGFT (Directorate General of Foreign Trade) portal.

1. PAN-Based Recovery
   • Since IEC is now PAN-based, your Permanent Account Number is the key to retrieval.
2. Access DGFT Portal
   • Visit https://www.dgft.gov.in
   • Go to Services → IEC Profile Management → Know Your IEC
3. Enter Details & Verify
   • Input your PAN and registered mobile number or email ID
   • An OTP will be sent for verification
   • Once authenticated, your IEC number will appear on the screen
4. Retrieve Certificate if Only Lost
   • If you know your IEC number but lost the certificate:
     • Log in to the DGFT portal
     • Go to Print IEC and download a copy
5. For New DGFT Users
   • If you never created a DGFT login earlier:
     • Register using your PAN and link it to your IEC
6. For Pre-Online System IECs
   • Update your IEC on the DGFT portal by submitting:
     • PAN card
     • Aadhaar card
     • Address proof
7. If Contact Details Are Inactive
   • Raise a request via the DGFT Helpdesk or
   • Submit a grievance through Contact@DGFT with:
     • Proof of identity
     • Business ownership documents
8. Final Step
   • Once updated, you can retrieve, update, and re-download your IEC for future use.
