How to check if your IEC is active?

To check whether your Import Export Code (IEC) is active, you can verify it online through the DGFT (Directorate General of Foreign Trade) portal. The IEC is mandatory for any business or individual involved in import or export activities in India, and keeping it active is crucial to avoid disruptions. Follow these steps:

1. Visit DGFT Website: Go to the official DGFT portal – https://dgft.gov.in.
2. Navigate to Services: Under the Services tab, select IEC Profile Management.
3. Check IEC Status: Click on Know Your IEC Status.
4. Enter Details: Provide your IEC number and registered mobile/email linked to the IEC. Enter the captcha and submit.
5. View Status: The system will display your IEC’s current status – whether it is Active, Suspended, or Deactivated.

Since 2021, the DGFT mandates that all IEC holders update and confirm their details annually (April–June). If you fail to update, the IEC may get deactivated automatically. However, it can be reactivated by updating the required details on the DGFT portal.

Tip: Always ensure your IEC details (PAN, business address, bank details, etc.) are correct and updated to avoid compliance issues.
