What Documents Are Required for IGCR Registration?
To avail the benefits of the IGCR (Import of Goods at Concessional Rate of Duty) Rules, 2017, businesses must register with Customs. The registration requires submission of specific documents that establish the importer’s identity, eligibility, and intended use of imported goods. The commonly required documents include:
IEC (Importer Exporter Code) – Mandatory for all importers, issued by DGFT.
GSTIN – To validate tax registration and compliance.
PAN Card – Proof of business identity linked with tax records.
Factory License / Manufacturing License – Confirms that the importer is engaged in manufacturing or production activities.
Authorization Letter – If the application is filed through a customs broker or representative.
Bond and Bank Guarantee – Required to assure Customs that imported goods will be used only for the declared purpose under IGCR.
Details of End Use / Manufacturing Process – A brief declaration showing how imported goods will be utilized in the production process.
Supporting Documents for Import Items – Such as technical literature, product specifications, or invoices (if applicable).
By submitting these documents, importers establish transparency and ensure compliance with Customs rules. Incomplete or incorrect submissions may delay approval. Therefore, businesses must prepare their documentation carefully before applying for IGCR registration.
